Daniel "Danny" G. Rios

Upon graduating from Princeton University (1987) and the University of Texas at Austin School of Law (1992), Danny returned to the Valley to practice law in both the private and public sectors. Through a wide variety of legal challenges, including prosecuting and defending criminal cases, he developed a strong reputation for competence, fairness, and hard work.

In the 1990s Rios worked for South Texas’s most-respected law firms where he focused on defending personal injury cases. He also served as Assistant Criminal District Attorney for Hidalgo County.  In 1999 he launched his own practice.  As an independent lawyer Rios came to specialize in commercial transactions and litigation, while continuing to represent clients in personal injury.

Most recently, Danny served as General Counsel to the City of Edinburg, his beloved hometown.  Through his friendly demeanor and impressive legal knowledge, Rios further established his reputation as a man of fairness and trust. Danny resigned his post in municipal government, when Governor Rick Perry asked him to preside over the newly created 449th Judicial District Court in Hidalgo County, Texas.  Judge Danny Rios was sworn in December of 2007 and has been presiding over his court since.

Rios's breadth of experience in business, public service, and law has served the Valley well.  Let's Keep Judge Rios.
